The Tamur River and its tributaries drain the snows of Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. The valley itself is awe-inspiringly beautiful and unspoiled with relatively few villages and little agriculture. Its slopes are well wooded, there are beautiful white beaches for camping and plentiful wildlife to be seen.

All along the river are beautiful, large white sandy beaches for camping, and the lower section is heavily forested with troops of monkeys and an abundance of birdlife.
